Car Free Day – Sunday 29 September in Guildford Town Centre

Car Free Day is celebrated across the world – join us in Guildford town centre on Sunday 29 September 2024 from 11.00am to 4.00pm for a free community event and “Be part of a Greener Guildford”.    The event encourages motorists to choose alternative travel such as walking, cycling or public transport, instead of using their car for the day.  At the same time, we can reduce air pollution and give more room to breathe.     Guildford Borough Council is coordinating this free, fun, and interactive event, bringing in dozens of local providers, traders, and community organisations, all working together. The event will involve a range of environmental education and awareness activities, family entertainment, and many different stalls on the High Street. Car Free Day will help attendees contribute to making Guildford a more sustainable place.
Visit our free activities: • Learn how you can do more to tackle air pollution. • Hear from world-class researchers from University of Surrey. • Learn more about alternative transport options. • Meet the team from Zero Carbon Guildford. • Roll up, roll up for circus skills. • Have a go on amazing new e-bikes. • Scale the heights of our huge climbing wall. • Browse through a selection of market stalls offering a range of goods.

NB Some bus routes may be affected by road closures – details to follow.

UKSPF This event is brought to you by Guildford Borough Council. We are grateful to receive funding from the UK Government’s UKSPF (UK Shared Prosperity Fund), which aims to open up access to the town centre for all residents.
