I’m Sorry You Feel That Way — August Book Club! 📚✨
Guildford Feminist Book Club – Read in July, discuss in August
Join us on Wednesday 27th August as we come together to discuss our August pick, I’m Sorry You Feel That Way by Rebecca Wait.
This sharp, funny and deeply moving novel dives into the chaos of family life, the silence around mental health, and the ways we try (and often fail) to understand each other — perfect for an honest, thought-provoking conversation over drinks and good company.
📖 About the Book:I’m Sorry You Feel That Way tells the story of the Moore family — four siblings, an absent father, and a mother who says she loves them, but only on her own impossible terms. The sisters, Alice and Hanna, are as close as they are different: Alice, the anxious overthinker, wants to fix everyone; Hanna, sharp-tongued and defensive, wants to be left alone. Their brothers, Michael and Patrick, each have their own battles with the family’s dark undercurrents.
As the siblings grow up and apart, secrets simmer, old wounds fester, and the question lingers: is it possible to break free of the past without leaving each other behind?
This is a brilliantly witty and tender exploration of family ties, resentment, love and the awkward, messy hope of connection.
Grab a bite or a cocktail, settle in and get ready for an evening of lively discussion with fellow book lovers. Whether you’ve read every page or just want to listen in, everyone’s welcome (but spoilers will definitely come up!).
Let’s connect, laugh and share our thoughts — see you there!
