Doors open 7pm Event 7.30pm to 9.30pm

This event is all about navigating the increasingly challenging world around us. Spotting and avoiding "fake news" is one thing, but how do we then make our own way and innovate our new ideas. Join Surrey Academics Jane and Will to find out more!

Don't miss this opportunity! Dr Will Lanham-New (Senior Lecturer, Surrey Business School) My name is Dr William Lanham-New and I am interested in Entrepreneurial thinking and hypervigilance, especially around opportunity recognition. Join me and see if your inner entrepreneur is just waiting to break out! ... What to believe and not to believe – becoming research savvy in a time of fake news Professor Jane Ogden (Professor of Health Psychology) We live in a world of unprecedented access to information. How do we know what is real and what is fake? What is fact and what is fiction? What should we believe and what should we reject? This talk will explore how to judge evidence and how to think critically about what we hear and read. It will also show how to navigate through this world of information overload to become expert critical thinkers who are neither too gullible nor too sceptical of everything they hear.
