Zoe Gilby: “Pannonica”

Inspired by the 1988 Carmen McRae album “Carmen Sings Monk”, Zoe discusses Thelonious and Carmen’s career including the story behind ‘Pannonica’ written in honour of the patron of bebop, Kathleen Annie Pannonica. Zoe Gilby’s unique vocal phrasing and appreciation of Monk and McRae’s work is the highlight of this project. With Terence Collie on piano, Marianne WIndham on double bass and Alex Goodyear on drums.
