Guildford Spectrum celebrates ‘Freedomleisure Day’- Monday 19th July
Following the latest government announcement on the relaxation of certain restrictions, we will be celebrating ‘Freedomleisure Day’ on Monday 19th July, so why not take some time to come down with your family, friends or work colleagues to your local community leisure centre in Guildford and explore everything that we have to offer.
We are all about inclusivity, accessibility and offering a space where people can meet, learn and play together and enjoy their leisure time.
We’ll be raising a glass (or rather a re-useable coffee cup) to mark ‘Freedomleisure Day’ so there will be a free re-useable coffee cup waiting for you, on us! We look forward to seeing all our loyal, regular customers and hopefully some new visitors finding out what makes a visit to their local leisure centre so special and the obvious physical and mental health benefits it can provide.
Ivan Horsfall Turner, Freedom Leisure’s Managing Director commented; “There has never been a better time to try and be more active, more often. For some the pandemic has seen an increase in activity but for many others physical activity and health and wellbeing have lapsed. Your local community Freedom Leisure centre can help you get your activity levels back on track”.
Lead Councillor for Environment, Cllr James Steel says: “Monday 19 July marks a monumental milestone in history as restrictions are fully lifted for the first time since March 2020. We have loved welcoming many of you back to our leisure centres as restrictions have eased. Being active is really important for our mental and physical well-being, especially after such a challenging period in our lives.
“This summer has been, and continues to be, full of fantastic sport that we have missed over the pandemic. We hope you feel inspired to get active and support your local leisure centres.”
It is also appropriate to celebrate the fact that despite numerous local and national lockdowns over the last 18 months and the financial pressures imposed on the wider leisure trust sector, your local community not-for-profit leisure centre is back open, delivering locally focussed health and leisure services to the local community, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.
It is important that we also recognise the strength of our client partnerships and the role they have played during the pandemic and will continue to play over the next few months. Without the support of Guildford Borough Council the continued provision of leisure services in your area may not have been possible and centres may have needed to close permanently.
So, let’s all celebrate ‘Freedomleisure Day’ and come and see what your local leisure centre can do for you and pick-up your free re-useable coffee cup. To find out more, visit www.guildfordspectrum.co.uk.
