We as the Business Improvement District put some money towards training courses over the year to help upskill your employees.
We have held courses in Emergency First Aid at work, Mental Health First Aid Awareness, Dementia Friends, Autism Awareness, Welfare and Vulnerability Engagement, Health and Safety, Deaf Awareness and DOT sign language and Fire Marshall training.

Emergency First Aid At Work This course is Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work. It comprises of a minimum of 6 hours of practical and theoretical training covering responsibilities; assessment of the situation; first aid hygiene; resuscitation; anatomy; choking; bleeding; shock; epilepsy; minor injuries and dealing with an unresponsive casualty. It is compliant with Health & Safety Executive code of Practice. You will be awarded a certificate and an ID badge upon completion.

Mental Health First Aid Awareness Monday 28th July - 9am -12pm at Experience Guildford
You will gain a Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health. The course will give an overview on:

- Starting a conversation
- What is stress and the causes and effects
- Different mental health conditions

Dementia Friends Awareness Training
What is a Dementia Friend? A Dementia Friend is somebody that learns about dementia so they can help their community. Too many people affected by dementia feel that society fails to understand the condition they live with. Dementia Friends help by raising awareness and understanding, so that people living with dementia can continue to live in the way they want.
If you would like bespoke training session, Sue our Dementia Friends Ambassador to come in and train your team, minimum of 6 participants. please email [email protected] to arrange.
LGBTQ+ Awareness Training Monday 9th June 10am-1pm This session will aim to increase awareness of some of the difficulties that LGBTQ+ people face and how this can impact on their access to services, their sense of self worth, sense of belonging, the struggle to be themselves and the battles that they have to constantly fight, by looking at:
- Providing a safe space to learn
- Challenging myths/stereotypes and assumptions
- Exploring the barriers they may face
- How prejudice and discrimination still exist
- The impact of DA on LGBTQ+ people
- Explore what you can do to support them
- Being an inclusive service provider
