Experience Guildford makes a substantial investment in Guildford’s Christmas lights, bringing festive displays to North Street, High Street and Upper High Street and helping to create a warm, vibrant atmosphere throughout the festive season.
Working in partnership with Guildford Borough Council, Experience Guildford funds the town centre lighting scheme, with the Council supporting its installation. Decorative light wraps are also provided on selected lamp posts beyond the main shopping streets, extending the festive feel into surrounding areas and creating a more connected Christmas experience.
The lighting scheme is an important part of Experience Guildford’s wider commitment to making the town centre an attractive destination for residents, visitors and businesses. At a key trading time of year, the displays help bring the streets to life, complement seasonal events and encourage people to spend more time exploring, shopping, dining and enjoying Guildford.
As part of each BID term, the lighting scheme and available budget are reviewed, with investment made where possible to refresh existing displays, replace lighting and introduce new elements. This allows the scheme to evolve over time rather than simply repeating the same display year after year.
