Volunteer Mentor

Part Time

When you‘ve had the most unfair start in life you can lose your way for the rest of your life. You need someone to help you find your path.

Could you give just one hour to support a vulnerable young person in Guildford?

The award winning charity MCR Pathways are looking for Volunteer Mentors to give just 1 hour a week, term time only, to support a young person in Kings College School, Christ’s College School and Ash Manor School. .

An hour a week really can have a lifetime of impact on a young person who is facing challenges. You don’t need to be an expert, just caring and willing to make a difference. You would be carefully matched with a young person based on shared life experiences, hobbies, personality etc and you would support them to build their confidence, instil belief, awaken ambition and expand future horizons.

As a volunteer mentor you would be a reliable and consistent trusted adult:

  • To believe in them and offer support and encouragement
  • To listen to them
  • To help them success
  • To guide them
  • Who they can count on
  • Who’ll always be there Teenage years are a time when the choices they make, good and bad, will shape their future. Young people, especially those facing challenges, need someone they can trust and turn to so they don’t have to make these choices alone.

This is a great opportunity to develop new skills, receive excellent mentor training and to give back to the local community in Guildford. You must be over 21 and MCR would complete a DBS check. The commitment is for a minimum of 1 year of mentoring.
