Local salon, the Hair and Beauty Bar, has raised over £1000 for Shooting Star Children’s Hospice following a 2 month fundraising drive including bake sales and a raffle.

The salon, which has recently become independent, wanted to spend the festive period fundraising for the cause which is close to many of the team’s and customer’s hearts.

Gemma Raif, Owner of the Hair and Beauty Bar said; ‘We had heard from one of our loyal customers, who works at the charity, that they were in need of support – so we jumped at the chance to help.

‘The generosity of local businesses was amazing – many donated great prizes for the raffle that took place in the salon. The Hair and Beauty Bar team also donated haircuts, massages and eyelash extensions as prizes.

‘We’d like to thank all the local businesses that supported this cause and our amazingly generous customers who helped us raise money for this important cause.’

Kirstie Barton, Community Fundraiser at Shooting Star Children’s Hospice, said: ‘We’re so delighted to receive this fantastic donation from the Hair & Beauty Bar. It’s wonderful to have this support in the community. £1000 could pay for the medical supplies needed for a month; or for one of our Memory Days when families return to the hospice and join together to remember their child who died.’
