This summer, over 100 talented young people will take to G Live’s main stage to bring the spectacular Shrek The Musical to life. Packed with humour, heart, and show-stopping numbers, this larger-than-life production promises an unforgettable experience for performers and audiences alike.

The Summer Youth Project offers participants a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of live theatre. From auditions and rehearsals through to full-scale performances, young people gain valuable experience both on stage and behind the scenes.

The project not only showcases emerging talent but also inspires the next generation by welcoming the wider community to enjoy high-quality live performance. Now in its fifth incredible year, the 2026 production reimagines the beloved story of Shrek, a grumpy but lovable ogre who embarks on an unexpected adventure. Joined by a wisecracking Donkey and a host of fairytale misfits, Shrek sets out to rescue Princess Fiona, discovering along the way that true beauty comes from within.

Featuring energetic songs, dazzling characters, and plenty of laughs, Shrek The Musical is a feel-good celebration for all ages.

This year’s production is led by an exceptional creative team, with Director Lisa Millar, Musical Director Daniel Looseley, and Choreographer Hannah Batley bringing their expertise and vision to the project. Led by G Live’s Creative Learning department, which operates as a registered charity, the Summer Youth Project is about far more than putting on a show. It’s about building confidence, nurturing talent, and creating lasting memories, made possible through the ongoing generosity and support of the local community. With community at its heart and an infectious sense of fun, the 2026 Summer Youth Project promises to be its biggest and best yet. Don’t miss your chance to support the stars of tomorrow as they bring Shrek The Musical to life on the G Live stage.
