Experience Guildford BID is delighted to announce the completion of a brand-new mural on Chapel Street, right in the heart of Guildford town centre.

The mural has already been long-listed for a Guildford Design Award.

Commissioned by Experience Guildford as part of a wider initiative to enhance public spaces and celebrate local creativity, the mural has been brought to life by talented local artist and teacher Nathalie Beauvillain Scott.

Over the past few weeks, passers by have enjoyed watching the artwork take shape, with many taking the opportunity to stop and chat to Nathalie during her time on site.

Now complete, the mural captures the tranquillity, beauty and essence of Guildford, and is a striking new feature of the town’s historic streetscape.

To mark its completion, Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Howard Smith, joined the Experience Guildford BID team and mural artist Nathalie Beauvillain Scott on Thursday 19th June to officially open the mural. Art student Gerald Dampier was also at the opening. Inspired by the mural, Gerald wrote a beautiful poem that is now displayed alongside the artwork.

The occasion celebrated the town’s continued commitment to public art and placemaking, and the mural has already become a vibrant new feature in the town centre.

Amanda Masters, CEO of Experience Guildford, said: This wall was crying out for something other than graffiti. We now have a beautiful mural which is drawing attention to this lovely side street.

Nathalie Beauvillain Scott, Portrait and Mural Artist, said: It has been a real pleasure to paint the mural in Chapel street. The response from passers has been so positive and it has been so much chatting to people while painting the mural. Murals are such a great way to bring colour into the community. I hope the first of many. I would like to thank Experience Guildford for giving me the opportunity to bring a little bit of magic in Guildford.
