Oakleaf Presents Laughter for a Cause: Comedy Night Headlining Felicity Ward

Oakleaf Enterprise, a mental health charity based in Guildford, is delighted to announce its upcoming comedy night during Mental Health Awareness Week featuring an incredible line-up of talented comedians to raise awareness and funds for mental health in the Surrey community. DMH Stallard, an award-winning law firm with offices in Guildford and across the South East, are generously sponsoring the event so that all funds raised will be donated to Oakleaf.

The event will be hosted by renowned comedian, Dave Chawner, a number one best-selling author, award-winning stand-up, presenter, and mental health campaigner who will bring his unique blend of humour and advocacy to the stage. Dave emphasizes the ability of comedy to both engage and educate: “Comedy is the perfect forum to talk about mental health because when people are laughing they have to be listening, and when they're listening they can learn. You can use that to make people with mental health difficulties feel less alone, while also entertaining and educating those who are lucky enough to have no experience of mental illness.”

The headliner for the evening is none other than Felicity Ward, an Edinburgh Award Nominee known for her appearances on Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week, Russell Howard's Good News, The Stand Up Sketch Show and more. Felicity has supported comedians like Amy Schumer and Kathryn Ryan, and has her own Radio 4 show and Netflix special. She has starred in Wakefield and the Inbetweeners 2. Soon Felicity will be starring in the Australian adaptation of The Office as the hapless middle-manager role originated by Ricky Gervais.

Joining the line-up as the opener is Joe Wells, a comedian who sensitively uses comedy to discuss his experiences with autism. Joe has garnered over 4.5 million views online, supported renowned comedians Frankie Boyle, Stephen K Amos and Alexei Sayle, written for Have I Got News For You, and sold out over 300 venues on his latest tour. His book about OCD further solidifies him as one of the most exciting acts on the circuit. The middle act will be the brilliant Robyn Perkins, winner of The Sydney Fringe ‘Best In Comedy, Shaftesbury ‘Best Comedy’ and Perth Fringe World ‘Weekly Comedy Winner’. The international multi award-winning comedian is also the creator and host of Comedy For The Curious, which aims to explain science using stand-up.

Oakleaf’s Comedy Night promises to be an evening filled with laughter, entertainment, and a shared commitment to mental health awareness.
