During Safer Business Action Week, October 2023, Experience Guildford, members of the Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP), Surrey Police and loss prevention leads from national retailers got together to hold held a Blitz Day. A Blitz Day is a multi-agency undercover operation to detect, deter and maybe detain any shoplifters or any person causing anti-social behaviour. the long term goal is to drive home the message that Guildford is aware of such activity and will not stand for it.
With the police's renewed drive to support the town centre and to crack down on antisocial behaviour, this was marked as a successful endeavour. There were many attempted shoplifts deterred, several warning letters issued, 2 mental health interventions and 1 police arrest.
