Guildford is celebrating the re-opening Waterstones, which opened its doors on Thursday 4th December, bringing a fresh new chapter to the town’s retail landscape.

The new store has already created a buzz among local residents, visitors, and book lovers, offering a bright, welcoming space filled with a wide selection of books, gifts, and seasonal favourites. Located in a prime position in the town centre, Waterstones adds to Guildford’s vibrant mix of retail, culture, and community activity.

The opening welcomed customers throughout the day, with staff on hand to showcase the store’s curated collections, children’s section, and featured new releases ahead of the festive season. The team expressed their enthusiasm to become part of Guildford’s thriving town centre community.

Experience Guildford was delighted to see such a positive response from the public and welcomes Waterstones as a valued part of the town’s growing retail offering.

Waterstones Guildford is a large, three-floor bookshop on the High Street (71-73 High Street, GU1 3DY) that recently relocated back to its former, bigger premises, now featuring its own café and expanded sections for books, gifts, and board games, with passionate booksellers and community events like author signings, book clubs, and children's activities.

It aims to be a cultural hub with a focus on expert recommendations, community engagement, and a cozy atmosphere for browsing and enjoying coffee, a welcome return of the in-store cafe.

The launch comes at a perfect time as the town enters the busy Christmas shopping period, giving residents and visitors yet another reason to enjoy all that Guildford has to offer.

Waterstones Guildford is now open seven days a week.
