From lighting and sound design to musical theatre and storytelling workshops, there’s something to keep all creative young minds buzzing! With free bursary spaces available, BSL interpreted workshops and relaxed sessions offered for three of the workshops on offer, these workshops offer a chance for everyone to engage with the arts and get creative this summer.
The Arnaud Theatre has a range of exciting workshops for those who want an insight into the world of theatre and the practical side of creating a show. Come on a Scavenger Hunt across the theatre with the Theatre Explorers workshop (2 Aug) and go behind the scenes as you explore backstage and take part in some fun theatre-making activities. Lighting Design: A Practical Introduction (4 Aug) takes you on your first practical steps in exploring the world of stage lighting with professional lighting designer Mark Dymock. Sound Design for the Stage (9 Aug) offers a practical introduction for young people interested in how sound is designed and created for theatre.
If storytelling, musical theatre and drama are more your thing, The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre has the perfect set of workshops for you! In Creative Characters (2 & 5 Aug) using drama exercises, games, text and a sprinkling of props and costume, you will delve into the imaginary world of an array of well-loved books and characters. Dabble in dance and sing-along fun with I ♥ Musical Theatre (8 – 11 Aug) and discover more about the wonderful world of musical theatre. Discover a world of adventure through storytelling, drama games, prop-making and crafts in Tales From Adventureland (10 Aug).
