Much of the environmental impact of clothing arises during production of new garments.

At least partly in response to this, new business models which provide clothing through rental and leasing, as well as platforms for second-hand exchange, are becoming increasingly popular.

However, these new business models still impact the environment. Adding transport and changing cleaning methods creates a risk that new schemes may actually turn out to be more environmentally damaging than traditional retail, but not enough is known about how to minimise impact.

There is a need for new scenarios to consider how different types of business model can provide elements of the modern wardrobe, to make it easier to shop for and wear clothes in ways that minimise our impact on the environment.

Join us at ZERO for a fascinating talk on low-impact ways to stay on top of the latest fashions whilst not contributing to industries that put profit above the future of the planet.
