A new walk about the life of George Abbot, a Guildford boy who rose to national prominence at the Court of King James 1, becoming Archbishop of Canterbury. He is most remembered in Guildford for Abbot’s Hospital, the magnificent almshouse which he founded – still fulfilling its original purpose 400 years later.

► A short walk from High Street to Upper High Street and back, you will visit locations in Guildford that were significant in Abbot’s life, including the Royal Grammar School, Abbot’s Hospital and Holy Trinity Church.
