Model Town – Build Guildford, a new interactive display at Guildford Museum

Model Town – Build Guildford, is a new display at Guildford Museum  with activity at its heart on show from 26 March to 7 May. Using recycled materials such as cardboard boxes or cards you can help us create the model of our town. As well as facilitated workshops visitors can make a building to add to the display. The model, as it develops, will be displayed alongside historic and contemporary images of Guildford.

Lead Councillor for Economy, Cllr John Redpath, said:

“Guildford is full of wonderful buildings and so much history. Which one would you pick to recreate?

“Visitors can take inspiration from some of the images of our town that are part of our heritage collections. Most of the houses and gardens in the panoramic view by Harris, provide a fascinating insight into the layout of the town. This display offers us a chance to reflect on the past 200 years and how our town has evolved and adapted to the changing world around it.

“Come to one of our facilitated Family Fun sessions or just drop in during opening hours. It is suitable for all ages. We cannot wait to see what wonderful models you make.”

Bookable free family fun sessions:

Saturday 9 April 12-1pm and 2-3pm

Thursday 14 April 12-1pm and 2-3pm
